30 Days of Self Love

I am following Tina's 30 Days of Self Love over at FaithFitnessFun, and let me tell you it has been a huge uplifting part of my morning each day. As women we are naturally inclined to put ourselves last, and I think this results in an overwhelming sense of guilt and frustration as we try to measure up to others' expectations.

For me personally, I struggle with self love and am often my own worst enemy (even when it comes to messing up a recipe!). I am such a perfectionist that it usually gets the better of me. Sometimes when I cook a new recipe I'll say things like, "sorry if this recipe didn't turn out right, we still have cereal if the food sucks." I need to stop doing that. We all make mistakes. No one is perfect. I have to learn to embrace the positive over the negative - life is too short!

I was so glad to read about Tina embarking on this new journey with other bloggers: helping us embrace our unique qualities, loving ourselves, and being grateful for the awesome individuals we are.

  1. What a wonderful idea. I am my own worst enemy when it comes to my perfectionistic (is that a word?) tendencies. I definitely need to remind myself that I am pretty awesome just the way I am - imperfections and all. :)

  2. I do the exact same thing. When I bake something I always disclaim it by saying that it might not be too tasty or that I didn't really like some part of the dish. I do need to stop doing that! Just like I took 'Fat Talk' out of my life, I need to take 'Negative Self Talk' out too.

  3. Great idea! I hear so much negative self talk in my running class by ladies who just absolutely rock that I've started wondering what I sound like when I talk about myself.
You go Lauren! And if ya need a self-esteem booster shot, lemme know.
