Back from Blogger Vacation

Hey blog world!  Long time no see :)  I am soo excited to have won Amanda's Lovin' Scoopful giveaway!  Go check out her awesome blog Baking Without a Box and see what goodies she's been coming up with.

So...this blogger's been on a bit of a hiatus lately.  My mother-in-law was in town last weekend from Guatemala so we were super busy showing her around the San Diego area.  Unfortunately, I had to work a lot while she was here - I'm working part time at a coffee shop right now and my schedule changes every week.  Also unfortunately, many of my shifts occurred during dinnertime so I haven't cooked much in the past week.  On the flipside, it gave Hubby and her plenty of quality mother-son time and I know they enjoyed that :)

Here are some of the things I remembered to capture with my camera lately.

Hubby and I visited Stone Brewing Company in Escondido for a tour and free tasting.  They are known for their Arrogant Bastard Ale.

Awesome new breakfast: 1/4 cup raw oats with skim milk, ground flaxseed and a package of Nature's Valley peanut butter granola bars crushed on top.  Why did I not think of this sooner?

Have you tried Pretzel M&Ms?  What do you think?  I really liked the combination of sweet + salty + chocolate (of course!).  Love the soft peppermint puffs too (the hard mints that melt in your mouth - yum!).

This was a pretty tasty lunch the other day: raw bell pepper strips with hummus, and a bagel thin with leftover pesto, tomato, and ham.  More yum!

Hubs, MIL and I visited the beautiful historic Mission San Diego de Alcala...

...and took in the breathtaking views from Self-Realization Fellowship in Encinitas.

I tried white zinfandel again after a VERY long hiatus and rediscovered I'm not a fan.

We had a lot of fun and I wish MIL's visit had been longer :)  Stay tuned for yummy veggie pizza, pumpkin-cranberry-walnut bread, butternut squash soup, a fall twist on Rice Krispies treats, and more!

I am looking for a fun recipe using pomegranate juice - any suggestions?

  1. I LOVE the pretzel M&Ms not more than the peanut butter ones, but almost.
